El invierno nos recibió con los brazos abiertos, una semana antes de que llegáramos a la nieve de Bariloche ni siquiera podía cubrir las piedras mas chicas
de la montaña. Pero tres días antes de que lleguemos empezó
a nevar enserio. Para mí, personalmente, no hay sensación mejor que estar al lado de la
ventana, viendo como los copos de nieve gigantes caen del cielo llenando todo de blanco. Un bosque con árboles cubiertos de nieve debe ser uno de los más increíbles espectáculos que alguien pueda apreciar, y es mucho más memorable si uno lo aprecia si uno va rayando
el bosque con sus amigos, gritando de alegría, disfrutando el momento. Es como la poesía en movimiento.
A diferencia de otros centros de esquí de Estados Unidos o Canadá, los argentinos no tienen una cultura de freeride y
fuera de pista muy fuerte, he visto a gente en Squaw hacer líneas en KT-22 a las 5 de la mañana, sólo para tener la primera silla. Esto significa que cuando nieva, hay más para
nosotros, para los que se preocupan y se toman el tiempo para caminar y disfrutar del paquete
temprano en la mañana, que se despiertan cuando todavía es de noche y los egresados siguen dando
vueltas borrachos de la noche anterior. Durante nuestro viaje a Bariloche, tuvimos la suerte de disfrutar varios días de nieve
polvo en la montaña, Nubes, Palmera y La Laguna son algunos de los mejores lugares para caminar y esquiar después de una gran tormenta con nieve nueva. Palmera tiene uno de los mejores bosques para esquiar en todo el mundo, y la gente rara vez se toma el tiempo para esquiar este fuera del pista que tiene una vista increíble del lago
Nahuel Huapi. Nosotros si nos
tomamos el tiempo y valió la pena.
Después de un largo día en la montaña, no hay nada como tener un Quilmes frías y un "Tricolor" en TAGE. Tage es un puestito de cocina suiza o alemana en la Base de la Catedral, y es un lugar imperdible de
Bariloche en la temporada de invierno. Aquí hay algunas fotos del ojo de pez de lo que estuve hablando:
Winter received us with arms wide open; one
week before we had arrived to Bariloche snow couldn’t even cover the smallest
rocks in the Mountain. But three days before we got there it started dumping.
For me, personally there’s no better feeling than being standing by the window,
watching as giant snowflakes fall from the skies filling everything with white.
A forest with trees covered with snow must be one of the most amazing someone
can appreciate, and it’s much more memorable if you are watching that as you
cruise over deep powder with your friends, screaming with joy, enjoying the
moment. It’s just like poetry in motion.
Unlike North American skiing resorts,
Argentineans don’t have a very strong free ride culture, I’ve seen people at
Squaw doing lines at KT-22 at 5am in the morning, just to get first chair. This
means that when it snows, there’s more for us, for the ones who care and take
the time to hike and enjoy the freshies, that wake up when it’s still night
(sometimes). During our trip in Bariloche we were lucky enough to enjoy nice
powder days in several occasions, Nubes, Palmera and La Laguna are some of the
best places to walk and ski after a big storm. Palmera has one of the best tree
runs you can find in the whole world, and people rarely take the time to ski
this out of bounds area which has a stunning view of Nahuel Huapi. We took the
time, and it was totally worth it.
After a long day in the mountain, there’s
nothing as having a cold Quilmes and a “Tricolor” at TAGE. TAGE is a Swiss or
German Cuisine oriented house by the Base of Catedral, and it’s a Must do of
Bariloche in the Winter Season. Here’s some fish eye pictures of what I’m
